The Central Bank of Armenia has reported an increase in fraud cases conducted via phone calls and messaging apps. Scammers pose as telecommunications company employees and contact citizens, most frequently through WhatsApp.
They ask targets to enable screen sharing or install a specific file, claiming it is necessary to improve connection quality or activate 5G.
What is the Risk?
After these actions are performed, scammers gain access to the phone, banking applications, and accounts, which can lead to the loss of funds.
Important to Remember:
- Banks and operators never ask you to enable screen sharing.
- Do not install files from unknown links.
- Do not share codes, passwords, or device access with others.
The Central Bank urges citizens to stay vigilant: the sole purpose of such schemes is to gain access to your data and finances.
