Armenia’s Investigative Committee warns about new online fraud schemes

The Investigative Committee of Armenia has reported the spread of new online fraud schemes through WhatsApp, Telegram, and social networks.

According to the agency, scammers post advertisements promising quick profits from investments. These posts contain a link to a form where users are asked to leave their personal information.

After the form is filled out, fraudsters contact potential victims through messengers and offer investment opportunities. They typically use websites that imitate platforms of foreign investment companies.

Next, users are asked to fund an “investment account” by entering their bank card details. Once scammers obtain this information, they can access the funds and withdraw money from victims’ accounts.

The Investigative Committee urges citizens not to follow suspicious links and not to enter bank card details on unknown websites.
