AFM Analysis: Armenia's Payment System Infrastructure – Leaders in Terminals, Services, and QR

Armenia's payment services market continues its active growth; however, its structure remains distributed among several major players, each holding a strong position in its specific niche. As of March 2026, clear leaders have emerged in terms of terminal count, service variety, QR infrastructure, and geographic coverage.
Terminal Network Leader
Telcell possesses the largest terminal network in the country, with over 4,500 terminals.
EasyPay follows in second place with a network of 3,600+ terminals. Fast Shift holds the third position with approximately 1,000 devices. This infrastructure ensures wide accessibility for cash and card payments in shops, shopping malls, and public spaces.
Service Variety Leader
EasyPay leads in the diversity of available services.
Through this system, users can access between 800 and over 1,000 different services, including utility bills, mobile top-ups, government services, and various online payments.
QR Payment Leader
The largest QR infrastructure in the country has been built by Idram.
Market estimates suggest its network comprises more than 26,000 QR payment points, making it one of the most extensive cashless micro-payment systems in Armenia.
Geographic Reach
Regarding the accessibility of financial services in regions, HayPost plays a vital role.
Its network consists of approximately 900 branches, including border areas and remote settlements where traditional banking infrastructure is limited.
What This Means for Users
AFM's analysis shows that the Armenian payment system market remains fragmented yet highly competitive:
- For widespread terminal access across the country, Telcell and EasyPay are the most frequent choices.
- For QR payments and international transfers, users increasingly prefer Idram.
- For mobile communication payments following market changes in 2026, UPay, TeamPay, or MobiDram are commonly used.
- In rural regions with limited banking presence, the HayPost network remains the key provider.
The development of payment infrastructure in Armenia is advancing simultaneously across several fronts: terminal networks, mobile wallets, and QR payments. This trend intensifies competition among operators and expands the availability of financial services for users nationwide.
